Very beautifully woven and special vintage Navajo rug. Let me explain. This rug is very tightly woven, much more work to make. That allows for the fine design with the bold eye dazzlers throughout. Nice clean colors, perfectly dyed wool. And in addition it has the whirling log symbols used since the 1500s to mean harmony with the seasons. It comes from the big dipper in the night sky as it moves with the seasons. The tribes agreed to stop using this design in 1938. But it has been coming popular again, you see it in young peoples work to reclaim their heritage.
Handwoven and hand dyed in a traditional Navajo design.
No damage, holes, dye runs or stains. No fading on either side.
C 1950s.
66" x 58" Hard to find size, could be hung above a sofa, bed etc.
